Image Redactor

Hide faces, addresses, screens, and private details before sharing

What it is for

Use this tool before publishing screenshots, forms, receipts, documents, product photos, or social images that include visible private details.

Privacy note

The image is processed in your browser with canvas. Exporting re-encodes the file and removes most embedded metadata from the exported copy.

Recommended workflow

Inspect the image at full size, add redaction boxes over every sensitive area, export a new copy, then open the exported file to confirm nothing important remains visible.

What to look for

Common sensitive details include faces, street signs, shipping labels, usernames, email addresses, account dashboards, receipts, document IDs, and browser tabs.

Redaction limits

Blur and pixelation can sometimes leave context clues. For high-risk information, a solid box is usually safer than a visual effect.

FAQ

Can redaction be reversed?
The exported PNG is flattened from the canvas, but you should still keep the original private and avoid sharing source files with editable layers.

Use solid coverage for secrets

Passwords, tokens, addresses, account IDs, and private names should be covered with an opaque rectangle. Blur and pixelation are visual treatments, not reliable removal methods for short or predictable text.

Verify the exported copy

Open the downloaded PNG outside this editor, zoom to 100%, and inspect every edge, browser tab, notification, reflection, and repeated identifier. Share the exported copy only; never attach the original by mistake.

Processing limits

The editor scales very large images to a maximum working width or height of 1200 pixels. This keeps browser editing responsive, but the export is therefore a sharing derivative rather than a full-resolution archival copy.
